The town centre of Havant is located less than 1km away which would roughly take you 11 minutes to walk or 3 minutes to cycle. There are a variety of shops and restaurants to be found on the High Street and surrounding area, especially in the Meridian Shopping Centre which hosts a number of large name brands. You can find shops in these areas such as Boots, Argos, Next, Newlook and Tesco as well as various others. There are also local facilities such as the Library, a doctor’s surgery and a Post Office which are all in a highly accessible town centre location.
The local bus network offers convenient routes to most local destinations and, with frequent services located just 500m away, which is a 5 minute walk from your home, this could be the travel mode for you! Your closest bus stop can be found to the north of Abrams Place in various locations along New Road including North Street, Brunswick Gardens, Ingledene Close and James Road. From here you can catch four services; the 23, 30, 36 and then 145. The 23 provides frequent services between Leigh Park and Southsea whilst the 30, 36 and 145 cater well for access to local schools and colleges.

Travelling by train could be something to think about if you regularly commute, considering how close Abrams Place is to Bedhampton Railway Station. Located to the north west of your new home the station is located 450m away and would roughly take 5 minutes to walk or just 1 minute to cycle! Bedhampton Railway Station is supported with facilities including secure cycle storage, accessible self-service ticket machines, customer help points and part time staffing as well as sheltered seating areas.
This station provides direct and frequent services to Portsmouth and Southsea (15m), London Waterloo (1h 36m) and connects to Southampton (1h 06m) and Brighton (1h 11m) via Havant railway station which is located 1.3km to the north east of your home which is a 16 minute walk or 6 minute cycle. If you fancy getting out and about on your bike be that for your commute to work, for exercise or a leisurely activity, the map below provides you with information on your local cycle network. The green routes are traffic free, whilst the purple are on road routes.
This map can be found by visiting Sustrans at http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map and typing in your postcode. Sustrans is an extremely useful website which helps to enable people to choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys. Did you also know that you live close to National Cycle Routes 2 and 22? Both of these routes can be accessed within 300m of your home and provides continuous local cycle-friendly routes which are part of a well maintained collection of cycle paths across the UK. Route 2 offers a long distance route linking Dover in Kent to St Austell in Cornwall via the south coast, whilst Route 22 connects Bandstead and Brockenhurst via Guildford, Petersfield, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight between Ryde and Yarmouth. If you’re fed up of getting stuck in traffic and being late for where you need to be, try planning your trip beforehand by looking at some of this useful links that will inform you of any accidents, roadworks or traffic jams that may affect your journey.

What’s on in Havant?
Havant and the surrounding local area has some great activities on offer for a mixture of ages and experiences. If you are itching for more action on your bike, then checking out http://www.goskyride.com/ could be a good idea for budding bike enthusiasts. Search for local bike rides that are taking place close to Havant and away you go!
You can meet up with casual bike riders or push yourself and join up with experienced Sky Riders, the choice is yours. Larger, organised Sky Rides take place throughout the year across the UK and these are another good chance to have a great day out on your bike. Keep an eye out for updates on the Sky Ride home page.
Havant Borough Council also have a great section on their website about local healthy activities which is highly recommended by us here at PBA. The site provides a list of things to do in and around Havant and involves things such as walking and cycling routes, sports clubs to join and much more. There are links to local cycle rides to try out so there is no reason not to get involved. Up to date information can be found here on Havant Borough Council’s website.
