Red Funnel revealed plans last week to install a brand new cycle hub adjacent to their west Cowes terminal this spring! The project is part one of eleven cycle projects being supported by the Isle of Wight Council. The cycle hub is anticipated to be completed by the end of March and will include a 2-tier storage rack for 72 cycles as well as a repair stand fit with tools!
Another cycle hub similar to this one will be implemented in Newport. The development of these cycle hubs aims to increase the use of the Cowes to Newport cycle track by commuters and reduce carbon emissions. They will also help provide a more integrated sustainable transport experience for cyclists and increase levels of activeness.
The cycle hubs will definitely be in action for the Easter holidays in time for the good weather, so why not take the ferry to the Isle of Wight and take advantage of their local cycle routes!
