There are plans to make Cardiff Europe’s most ‘liveable’ city with a new cycling strategy. The strategy aims to reduce private car use to 50% by 2026 and double the number of people cycling within the next 10 years within the city.
The scheme plans to ensure all local authorities in Wales review existing walking and cycle routes and map these before making improvements and ‘filling’ any gaps. By improving and joining existing cycle route the plans aim to encourage more people within the city to engage with pedestrian infrastructure.
Cardiff City Council has approved the strategy and will start a consultation period where residents and commuters can highlight what other cycle routes may be needed.
Do you think other council’s should do this? What cycle routes are needed in your area?
