A folding recyclable bicycle helmet has been named the 2016 international winner of the James Dyson Award. The helmet is made completely from recycled paper, which is woven into a honeycomb structure. The honeycomb structure of the paper protects the cyclists head from impact in any direction. Not only is it completely waterproof but it can be folded and easily stored when not in use!
This new eco-friendly and practical model will stop you from having to carry around a bulky helmet and will provide the same amount of protection as a normal polystyrene helmet. Whilst this helmet isn’t necessarily aimed at regular cyclists, it’s a step on the right direction for a less bulky helmet. These helmets will be sold at bicycle shops or potentially even in vending machines and are an affordable way for occasional cyclists to protect themselves when cycling. The best part is that it will be completely recyclable and will only cost £4!
What more could you want from a helmet? We look forward to seeing these innovative helmets on the shelves. If you want to get behind the start up or find out more click here.
